Everything we get asked, grouped by what it's about. If yours isn't here, write to us a person reads it.
The practice itself
Do I need any Tai Chi experience?
None. Day one assumes you have never done this before and starts with how to sit and how to breathe. The Chinese names are there because they're the real names of the forms, not because you need to learn them.
How fit do I need to be?
Fit enough to sit upright in a chair for ten minutes and raise your arms in front of you. That's the honest floor. Everything above that is optional and every movement can be made smaller.
How long before I notice anything?
Most people say the calm arrives on the first morning and the ease of movement takes two or three weeks of most-days practice. We're not going to promise you a number anyone who does is guessing.
Can I do it at a different time of day?
Of course. We write about mornings because a fixed time is what makes a habit stick, and mornings are the time least likely to be taken by something else. Evening works just as well.
What if I miss a day?
Nothing happens. The plan doesn't reset and there's no streak to break. Pick up on the day you left.
Buying
What's the difference between the three plans?
The Booklet ($12) is the printable 7 day plan by itself. Booklet + Guided ($70) adds seven filmed sessions, one per day, so you can move along with someone. The Full Practice ($120) adds the extended library for what comes after week one longer flows, audio tracks and a month planner.
Will this renew or charge me again?
No. All three plans are a single payment. There is no subscription, no trial that turns into one, and no second charge of any kind.
Can I upgrade later?
Yes. Write to us within a year and we'll credit what you paid against the difference.
Can I buy it for someone else?
Yes buy it and forward the download email, or tell us at checkout and we'll send the links to their address instead. The licence covers you and the people in your household.
Getting your files
How do I actually receive it?
The moment your payment goes through you land on a download page, and the same links arrive by email. The booklet is a PDF; the sessions stream in your browser. There's nothing to install.
The email hasn't arrived.
Check spam and promotions first that's where it is nine times out of ten. If it isn't there, email us from any address with roughly when you bought, and we'll resend the links by hand. Don't buy a second time.
What do I need to open everything?
Any PDF reader for the booklet every phone, tablet and computer already has one. A modern browser for the videos. Ordinary A4 or US Letter paper if you're printing.
How long do I keep access?
Indefinitely. The links don't expire, and if you lose them we'll reissue them years later just email us.
Safety and suitability
Is this safe with limited mobility?
Every exercise is performed seated and every one can be made smaller. That said, we can't know your situation. If you live with a heart condition, vertigo, osteoporosis, a recent injury or a joint replacement, or you're recovering from surgery, please speak to your doctor before starting.
What equipment do I need?
A sturdy chair without wheels, and enough room to stretch your arms out sideways. No weights, no bands, no mat, no special clothing.
What kind of chair?
Firm, level, with a back and no castors. A dining chair is ideal; an armchair is too soft and an office chair moves under you. Feet flat on the floor if they don't reach, put a book underneath.
When should I stop?
Immediately, if you feel sharp pain, chest pain, dizziness or unusual breathlessness. Tai Chi should feel slow and unforced. Nothing in this plan is meant to be pushed through.
Is this medical treatment?
No. StillCrane is a general wellness programme and is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional. We make no medical claims and nothing here is a diagnosis or a prescription.
Money
What if it isn't right for me?
Email us within 14 days and you'll get a full refund. No reason needed, nothing to send back, and no one will try to talk you out of it.
How long does a refund take?
We issue it the same day we hear from you, back to the card you paid with. Your bank then takes 5 to 10 business days that part is out of our hands.
What will the charge look like on my statement?
STILLCRANE. If you see a charge you don't recognise under a different name, please email us before disputing it we'll sort it out faster than a chargeback will.
Still not sure? Just ask
We'd rather answer a question than sell you something that doesn't suit you.
